Starring and executive produced by Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke, who plays the controversial abolitionist John Brown, the seven-episode series is from Blumhouse Television and based on the National Book Award-winning novel The Good Lord Bird by bestselling author James McBride.

Ethan Hawke is awesome in this, but there’s something about this show fundamentally I don’t like. I think it’s the cross dressing slave as a narrator, but I’m not certain, yet. :gucci:
Yea that part was not necessary.

Ethan Hawke is incredible in this, like he needs to win something for this performance. There are some very Tarantino scenes.

the child actor isn't great. I'm not a huge fan of the voice-overs. Feels like there are some tone issues where things are serious yet comical at the same time? Sometimes that works perfectly but other times it feels off. I'll probably watch the entire miniseries for Hawke's performance alone, his scenes are fantastic. Ethan Hawke sounds a lot like Batman at times in this series.

Yea I found that unnecessary too but.. I think the show works because its slick funny.. Which is weird being some slavery shyt.. This might be a reach but I think django paved the way for "comedy moments during slavery times" shyt :yeshrug:

I'm still on ep1 and havent lost total interest yet. Even laughed out loud a few times :ehh:
