Raising Cane’s reveals plans to build new location in Dunwoody with double drive-through lanes

Story by Rough Draft Atlanta

The plan to build a Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant on Ashford Dunwoody Road is moving ahead, attendees at a community meeting held Feb. 27 heard.

The property, a former Wells Fargo Bank site, however, is currently zoned Office and Industrial (O&I), which does not allow restaurants. Harold Buckley, representing Raising Cane’s, said the company will file an application next week to change the property to Perimeter Zoning.

In addition, the company wants to install double drive-through lanes, which means it will have to apply for a Special Land Use Permit.

The Dunwoody Homeowners Association last April 14 first heard from restaurant representatives who want to build the restaurant on Ashford Dunwoody Road.

At last April’s meeting, Carl Jenkins of Raising Cane’s showed several site plan illustrations for the proposed restaurant, which would seat 66 inside, 25 outside, and would have a double drive-through queue that would accommodate about 30 waiting cars.

At the Feb. 27 meeting, Buckley showed a revised plan that puts the restaurant closer to the street, adds green areas, and includes a 30-seat covered outdoor seating area. He said the proximity of the restaurant to a soon-to-be-installed multi-use trail will promote walkability.

He said the drive-through lanes will accommodate at least 20- to-40 cars within the property, which will preclude traffic from backing up on Ashford Dunwoody Road.

The zoning process will take several months, with construction expected to take nine months after that, which puts the project completion around late 2026, officials estimated.

Raising Cane’s is an quickly growing American fast casual chain that specializes in chicken fingers. The first location opened on Aug. 28, 1996 in Baton Rouge, LA. It has become a cult favorite in college towns around the Southeast.

Im going to make this bold statement, Raising Cane's will be as big and busy as Chik-Fila in ATL. It's coming. I used to be a CFA guy, but RC came through and crushed the buildings when I lived in Louisiana for me...

They would have to open almost 200 locations in Metro Atlanta. They have 200 across the entire state of Texas.

Me thinks not

We passed the one in Marietta a few months back. My Wife went wild. I asked her what is that?

She said the chicken is fire.
:usure:
I asked, better than CFA?
:patrice:
She said maybe.
:pachaha:
We going next month so I can try it out.

Prepare to be disappointed. Zaxbys is killing Cane's. I have tried it multiple times in multiple states. Their bread and their sauce is fire but that's it.
