I know it’s week one but fun to your head. You had to correctly choose which QB gets benched first.
Jones
Watson
Cousins
Young
Who you choosing?
I have no clue who will get benched 1st.
But I would rank them in terms of who SHOULD get benched.
1. Daniel Jones -- because he's in Year 6 and he's never shown the ability to be a reliable leader for the offense. He was never a good prospect and a lot of us called this out even when he was being scouted for the draft. It's staggering that NFL teams continue to be so stupid.
2. Deshaun Watson -- he started his career with a bang and you could make legitimate excuses for why he hasn't gotten back on track. Still, he hasn't looked good at all. You're willing to give him a leash because the Cowboys are a good defense and his offensive weapons aren't exactly great.
3. Bryce Young -- in theory he should have the longest leash because he's by far the youngest and only in his 2nd season. But he looks bad. He's undersized. He doesn't have a great arm (at least it doesn't stand out at this level). He isn't a rushing threat. The Panthers have to hope that he turns into this super accurate machine in the pocket because he just doesn't have a lot of ways he can beat you. In the end he won't work out, but Carolina will suffer through another year of this at least.
4. Kirk Cousins -- The oldest of the group, but the one with the most success under his belt. To be clear, I'm not expecting much of anything out of this Saints offense this year. But Cousins has the track record to let you believe he can get hot for stretches at a time. More than any of these 4 teams, New Orleans seems (SEEMS) to be the most open to installing a new QB for the future. But they arguably have the most stable guy at the position -- even if that's not saying a lot.
For contract reasons, and because I think the Browns have such a good defense that they will be competitive all season long regardless of the offense sputtering, I think Watson survives the entire season.
Edit - @yseJ hoe ass corrected me that Cousins is on the Falcons, not the Saints. Not that it makes any goddamn difference...but I should note the correction for posterity.
