Just got back from the BLM DC caravan. It was dope! No matter what you see on the news, this demonstration was an organized, uplifting and peaceful. There were easily 500+ cars lined up on each side of the road. BLM members directed traffic while we drove slowly with our hazard lights on. We drove through busy main streets and quiet neighborhoods. DC is very segregated, so it was very obvious when we were driving through the Black areas and the White areas of town. Throughout the ride, in all areas, pedestrians on the side of the road cheered us on while the cars we passed on the other side honked and pumped their fist. There were people of all backgrounds and ages in both the cars and on the side of the road. So much positivity. I was a little anxious about attending, but I'm really glad I went. You could tell a few people we passed didn't understand what we were doing. I'm sure they were wondering what was the point of it all. The point was we came together and remembered. We came together and were inspired by the power ofmobilizing. The potential ripple effects of that power are endless.
