I just watched this tonight. I have not been to a movie in over a year and I picked this one because i knew it would not be packed.
It was "very" Wes Anderson. I was a bit disappointed overall but liked it.
There are 3 stories and some actors such as Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Bob Balaban, Henry Winkler, Christoph Waltz, Saoirse Ronan and Elisabeth Moss are barely in the film at all.
Chalamet, Mcdormand, Del Toro, Brody, and Tilda Swinton make up most of the first two stories and while interesting they didn't leave me with much impression after they were done.
The third story stars and is narrated by Jeffrey Wright. I had not known that the brother had such a great voice, presence and range. He plays a James Baldwin like character being interviewed and he kills it. That story alone would have been my choice to make up the entire movie and I would have wanted to see it again as it was more along the lines of a full Wes Anderson joint.
Don't kill yourself trying to go out and see it unless - like me - you had not seen anything and just had nothing to do.
This is definitely not a date movie but if you know Wes Anderson you knew that already. Wes fans only.

This one left me feeling meh. Interesting concept in its structure that’s executed well and beautiful cinematography, but not much substance in the story to keep me upright throughout the film…which I’m finding myself to say for a lot of Wes Anderson’s entries.

This is the first Wes movie I haven't really liked since Darjeeling. The first of the three main stories about the prison artist was really good. After that, it fell off a cliff. I barely chuckled during the final two chapters and the stories weren't interesting at all.
