So you guys might not know but for the presidential election, a candidate needs to be vouched by at least 500 mayors. There are 35k mayors and the cut off period to get those vouchers are usually something like a month from the election.
This year, the deadline is March 4th which is next Friday. But for a voucher to be certified, there are some rules that makes things complicated :
- a candidate needs mayors from at least 30 differents departments (sub regions) out of our 101 ones.
- a candidate cannot have more than 10% of vouchers from the same department
So usually candidates submit more than 500 vouchers to be sure that they have at least 500 certified ones ultimately
Currently, only 7 candidates are certified and Le Pen or Melenchon still need some. Mélenchon is at 442 and Le Pen at 393. They will most likely get in as usually those who lack vouchers get a huge bump in the final week bit it could more spicy for Zemmour who is at 350 right now. I think he may not pass the cut

What is the situation looking like right now in the polls? Are there any signs of the left/center-left consolidating (I assume not)?
