It's not that bad. There's only 4 songs on there that stops it from being a great album. If they scrapped these 4 songs and replaced it with better it would've been a very dope album

I still think it was a decent album I just skip these tracks
:manny:

All the other songs went hard imo

One of the albums I ask why it flopped because I didn’t grow up with it. Always thought it was a very good album and warranted a more cohesive second project.

Yeah. U don't even realize how the skits really make the album shorter than it is too.

I remember being with my sister and she bought this at The Wiz, (some electronic store in Time Square, used to be in all the Knicks games) and she was disappointed on the ride back. Ended up getting it exchanged for Vol 1. :blessed:and Pac's album, I think R U Still Down. shyts got the mega replay when I was playing Donkey Kong Country.

Listening to it about 10 years later, in high school, shyt wasn't that bad. But I could see how dudes in 97 were disappointed, especially after Big's death left dudes scrambling for some dope NY shyt.

i remember buying that album and expecting so much more with all of these top mcs, but I wasnt 100% feeling that production and the outcome of that album(along with Aftermath Presents) almost ended Dre's career had interscope not forced Eminem on us in the mainstream. Now that we look back on it, Aftermath Presents and The Firm were really dope albums, it's just that it was in an era with so much hot music coming out, you had to shine to stick out. I mean, everyone slept on Reaonable Doubt in 96. One of my female cousins in the summer of 96 tried to check me saying, "why do you talk about Jay Z so much' cuz she didn't get it then but now she's a HUGE Jay Z fan and I don't fux with his music like that anymore. The Firm that I look back at it was a very good album. Nature did his thing on it, we were just expecting a more east coast sound with beats by Primo, Pete rock, and guys with gritty drums and samples. We were thrown off by the Trackmasters and Dre sound, but looking back on it, it's a damn good album and I don't regret buying it 21 years ago

It has its moments. The production and presentation were prob a lil too polished for the era but for me it felt like a more upscale and sophisticated (minus the Nore presence) version of jiggy shyt that was out at the time. Like a precursor to Jay’s button up movement. I listened to it in my car when I had my good shyt on with new haircut but not everyday.
