Part 2 in this series now. With the news of Henry Cavill out as the man of steel, this seems a good choice to go with. Where did this go off the rails? Was it it pacing, plot, premise, trying to start an expanded universe like the MCU too fast, casting? What went wrong most of all and how could it have been fixed?

Batman v Superman came far too soon. Each superhero should have had it's own solo film. MoS 2 should have been out and been the 1st of the solo movies. That should have introduced Batman. Batman should have been the last solo movie. Then after the solo movies do a legit Justice League movie. Then do a BvS movie. Ex: Superman goes bad and Batman has to fight him.

1) Superman only had 44 lines

2) They needed a bigger time gap. 18 months after the battle of metropolis, there don’t appear to be any lasting damage from a fight that ended with untons destruction. Also how is there already a statue of Superman when 1/2 the world hates him.

3) Batman’s motivation and actions make no sense. If he’s going to kill Superman because there’s a 1% chance he can wipe us out, how does “Martha” change that? Batman had some knowledge of him living on earth due to Zod’s announcement.

4) Lois Lane existing magically showing up and explaining Martha.

5) The first time Batman and Superman meet it can’t be a fight. In the comics we accept the fight because Batman knows Superman won’t kill him. Batman has nothing to base that assumption on.

6) Going to the fight. Batman’s entire gameplay relies on Superman throwing him into the warehouse where he hid his super weapon.

7) Lex Luthor.

8) the random teaser trailer of the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg.

9) why did Lois land throw away the spear? Wouldn’t it be a good idea if Clark knew where the only thing that could hurt him was.

10) How does his super hearing work? He can hear Lois Kane fart across a continent, but can’t Martha in the city?

11) if Batman knows where Martha is and they’re friends now, why didn’t they both go?

12) How was Luthor going to stop doomsday?

13) Why did Batman brand people?

14) wasted Dark Knight Returns?

15) wasted death of Superman

16) based on the 18 months of activity of Superman had, why did the world care he died

17) killing him off when justice league was around the corner was a cop out

18) As cool as the Knightmare scene was, it was distracting and just added another convulted plot point

19) Give WW a bigger part or don’t use her.

They rushed everything on every level.

Plus if you're doing a Batman vs Superman movie do it right, they mashed together like 3 comic storylines that each would've been just fine on their own but together made you not want to suspend your disbelief

it's been a while since I saw it but the plot was a discombobulated mess. Scenes didn't flow together well and it just didn't do a good job of telling a good story or building up any of the characters

The issue is they introduced too many characters and this should have been the layout: Film/Antangonist
MoS - Zod
Wonder Woman
Aquaman - Black Manta
MoS2 - Metallo
Flash - Capt. Cold
Cyborg - Amazo
Batman - Death Stroke
Suicide Squad - Mad Hatter/Riddler
GL Reboot - Sinestro intro to Martian Manhunter
Justice League - Doomsday
Justice League 2 - Darkseid and Braniac

The above would be possible if they started this in 2008 with the MCU..

The main problems ultimately was WB naturally being risk adverse and scared, and this goes back to Batman 89, as they nearly failed with there due to the suits meddling. Eventually WB Execs torpedoed a chance of a third Keaton film and a Nick Cage Superman which would have been an instant classic....

20 years later, WB has not learned its lesson and they attempted to combine the elements of the serious tone of Nolan with the comedic element of Marvel....as a result we get:
CGI Mustache Supes
Hot Topic Joker
Drunk Batman
Dance Routines with Harley Quinn
Jimmy Olsen being an operative
Autistic Flash
Hammy Aquaman
Disinterested Alfred

I only watch JL for the live-action visuals....BvS the same, visuals and the film score which was epic considering Hans Zimmer was an understudy for the great Shirley Walker (R.I.P) who wrote the music for Batman:TAS and many of the WB animated series in the 90s/00s.

They had the right actors, characters, and soundtrack to wreck Marvel and they failed....
