But cgi can still be photographic and picturesque. Look at Jurassic park. Yeah it’s animatronics but also cgi. Cinematography is all about how it’s photographed and how it’s framed. Blade runner 2049 is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen and there’s a good chance 80% of that movie is cgi
