EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: Marvel's "Civil War" Novel - Comic Book Resources
When it was announced late last year, Marvel's new line of prose novels based on their superhero universe was marked as the kind of outreach program meant to draw readers in who are perhaps more familiar with Marvel movies than Marvel Comics. But with the upcoming release of "Civil War" -- writer Stuart Moore's adaptation of the best-selling comic event by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven -- it seems as though there are some surprises planned for even diehard comic readers.

Hitting bookstores on June 6, "Civil War" places its focus firmly on the Avengers as a tragic event involving the superhero community forces a rift between Captain America and Iron Man over the rights of super powered vigilantes. Much of the story is seen through the eyes of Spider-Man, who thanks to the events of the "One More Day" comic series has been firmly established as single during the events on display, though at the start his secret identity as Peter Parker remains intact.

Marvel provided CBR News with an exclusive 13-page excerpt from the novel. Below, read the second chapter of "Civil War" as Spidey lands in Stamford, CT for his first day as an Avenger beefed up by a new suit of armor courtesy of Tony Stark.
