Well @Ill already made the argument that, "Having bad products won't get you paid long term."
Were talking about the UK theyre stricter than we are.

:beli:

Not always the case.

In the LARGEST food fraud in US history, a GERMANY firm (that was well respected) was bringing in enormous quantities of fake chinese honey.

Just imagine all the other shyt they're faking out here.

Hell, theres another report that says a lot of these herbal supplements are fake and contain often times toxic ingredients: http://www.upi.com/blog/2013/11/05/Herbal-supplements-fake-toxic-study-suggests/7911383665910/

Not all things are just "market" regulated or to be gambled with.

Its cool to shyt on "big pharma" when the profit tallies come out, but their safety record almost commands a sort of respect.

My comments were solely in reference to the guy talking about India/China and not to the OP. Most people in states that border Canada have been illegally importing cheap Canadian meds for a long time now. I remember articles about old folks driving over the border in NY and Michigan to bring back TONS of pills for cheap. It was almost like the weed hustle except with legal meds. The entire health care market in the US is overpriced so I can see why a lot of people would take those risks to save some money.

Tbh I have no idea what you're even arguing about now.

My stance is neutral atm. I see pros and cons on both sides.

Ultimately I lean towards supporting the home front, because that directly helps stimulate the local environment in which I live in, but I can also sympathize / reason / understand why someone would choose the option of receiving medicine abroad for free...

they're receiving it for cheap, not free.

...and I worry about the well-being of citizens domestically OVER THE LONG TERM who are importing substitutes.

Not all imports are on the same level of importance or influence. cancer drugs aren't as serious as iphones when we talk about potential impact on society

This....intrigues me. On one hand, big pharma needs to be chin checked....on the other, drug RND is expensive and this could hurt their desire to be innovative. Either way lets see what happens

:whoa:Im gonna be honest...

I'm floored that RnD(research and development) cost are being brought up on a liberal forum... :banderas:
The arguments made for cheaper healthcare(here on HL) all seem to consider RnD cost irrelevant/nonexistent. So im taken back by this post. :whoo:

" @TheReal_Broke_88m3_13 " actually made a thread about this a couple weeks back...

To make a long story short Big Pharma would rather close certain departments of its R&D(cut jobs), then look for a possible "cure" for certain diseases and focus on more profitable ones instead.

:blessed: State will tax the import and still cake. Should cause better drugs to be developed in America instead of that overpriced garbage.
