The Deuce - Season 2 (Sept. 9th/Official Thread)

Man this show is really startin' to pick up. Dave Simon got another one. I can't really think of any show or movie that's given such emotion/layers/reasoning to characters we don't typically associate with these traits such as pimps, hos, & porn stars. This show has so many 3 dimensional characters...so many different types of characters in general that we're finding on these specific seedy blocks. Cops, mobsters, actors, film people, agents, black militants, jackboys, activists/reformers, non profits, protesters, bar owners, drug dealers, drug users, gamblers, and the standard derelict whose scraping around to find the next hustle to get by.

People def gonna start dying though...the tension in the air is so heavy.

This season started in 77. The homosexuals and their recklessness bout to get them wiped out. We're just a few years away from the aids epidemic. And then you got downlow brothers like Mike who gon spread this shyt in the black community too. Sad times are ahead.

Lori with her one foot in...one foot out...She's so close to getting killed. She really underestimating the jealousy, the bitterness, the helplessness, the weakness, etc that CC is going through. Really the only thing keeping her alive is her steady paycheck. She might not make it thru the season.

how you guys liking season 2?

It's OK so far, but season 1 IMO was alot better. The pacing of season 2 isn't as good, but I know it is going to pick up very soon.

S2 started off a bit slow but the way the tension has built up over these past 3 - 4 ep along wit the storylines progressing, if it ends the season satisfyingly, then I'll put it over S1.

Binge watched the 6 episodes and loving this season so far.

CC taking these Ls too lightly, you just feel the tension every time he's on screen, like he's about to snap go full on these ho's.

The buildup to the eventual downfall of a lot of characters has been dope. Last 2-3 episode shyt are gonna be intense

Now Abby is stealing money for her charity. The reality of how the world works is portrayed great. You can have all these social justice movements, but who is paying for them? How are you going to fund the "cause". Are anyones hands clean? Vincent needs to put his foot down. Abby doesn't even seem to respect him anymore and is just using him.

CC is right about Dorothy, she still gets shaken up over the game. CC himself is letting his ego get the best of him as he realizes his fading influence over Lori.
