The problem is she should’ve never been picked to be VP in the first place. She was the least popular primary candidate. She was a symbolic choice.
The only reason Biden probably ran again because he knew she wasn’t ready to take his spot. If he decided not to run again and they had a legit primary, she would’ve lost. And they would’ve been a political death sentence for her. And it would’ve made Biden and she party look worse.
Biden ultimately dropped out because the donors made him do it. They had no plan b. They couldn’t pick anyone else because it was too late in the game. I don’t think they wanted Harris to be the nominee, but they were in a bad spot with no real backup plan.
Democrats care more about optics than winning. They would rather seem “unified” than winning at all costs.
