I was hyped when I saw a Black female lead, and even more :gladbron: when I saw her character was married to a Black man in the show.

Brit TV shows usually have a lot of swirling going on with Black leads.

But then her character was just very unlikeable and she totally bushes her family for her job. :childplease:

That aside, the show is brilliantly filmed and has that James Bond type feel to it. Very engaging...

lol true

Hijack, Idris's wife is black
Criminal Record, Cush's husband is white. Ex-husband is black. Crazy dynamic with her being "pro-black" with a covertly racist husband.

From what I understand no broadcasters have it in advance plus I'm sure you mean episode 9 as that was the latest (on the boat)

Season finale next week, this shyt has been one of the best things I've seen all year and yes I'm rooting for the Jackal

US (Peacock)
UK (Sky)

The Sky TV broadcast is a week ahead of the US.
Except the season finale (E10)
This upcoming week US is getting episodes 9 and 10 at the same time

Here's the thing: you can't spend time tracking the most elusive man in Europe and also find the time to be a good parent. Just like Claire Danes in Homeland or Jo in Lioness. You can only find time to be good at one of them, and no one wants to watch a show about the FBI agent making in time to watch her daughter's piano recital after failing to catch the serial killer for the 23rd time.

That's why it's so much easier to make the cop character a loner.

That song reminded me of "Skyfall".

She's just got a really good old school jazz singer feel to her. I listened to more songs and was really impressed.

Yeah the song is reminiscent of Skyfall. It legitimately sounds like a Bond song. I was talking in general about her voice/tone - I don’t see think she sounds like Adele, but people seem to think so because it’s a comparison made often.

I think it’s more to do with there not being many singers making that kind of song, so Adele becomes an easy reference point.

The first Celeste song I ever heard was “Stop This Flame” and that’s because it was part of a video game soundtrack. Love that song

Yep I heard that thru the playlist on YouTube. She's got loads of talent.

Yep and the Adele comparison is really due to genre and level of talent. Particularly in the musical area where you can't hide if you can't sing

Watched episode 8 last night.

Get the fukk outta here with that prison interview room scene. :stopitslime:

"I've killed a lot of people."

*Has a shank but slits his own throat instead of killing Bianca for destroying his family*

Just terrible writing.

I still like the show and the ending felt right but that one scene was outrageous.

I think the point he was trying to prove was that they're both bad people. He knows this, but doesn't understand why she's in denial. I think he did that chiefly because he knows that's he deserves that for offing his wife, and in turn recommends she takes the same action.

Never heard of a murder/suicide?

Just makes no sense for his character. It's terrible writing.

Remember, his brother was killed, his wife's dead, & his daughter was dead. He knew he wasn't getting out & had no reason to live other than to get back at the agent. What better way to haunt & to keep the blood of his family line on her hands by doing that

The mental torture of her knowing her actions lead to the death of a young innocent girl (similar in age to her own daughter) is probably enough in his mind. He knows she's still seeking redemption (why else is she visiting him at that point) and I think the suicide is him telling her that she deserves none and will get none.
