We judged youi was reading Entertainmen Weekly on the shytter (cheap ass subscription, don't judge me) and on 3 consecutive turns of the page there was a story on Bruce Jenner, a review of this movie, and a review of Transparent. Tranny takeover is upon us
they have the best "movie preview" issues. im still one of 9 people who has a ton of magazine subscriptions. i think i paid the same amount for all of them that I would have on shytty Sports Illustrated a few years agoWe judged you
Burn too bright too quickly burn out just as quickly.Yep, he politicking like a motherfukker.
I miss getting EW every Saturday in the early 00s. I still skim it if i see it in stores but I can't bring myself to buy a magazine in this day in age. I also never visit their website for some reasonthey have the best "movie preview" issues. im still one of 9 people who has a ton of magazine subscriptions. i think i paid the same amount for all of them that I would have on shytty Sports Illustrated a few years ago
This movie kinda fukked me up. I'm still thinking about it. Eddie Redmayne transformed himself, not only into a woman, but a man in torment. And I completely bought most of it. This guy came out of nowhere and this is the second performance of his that has left me going "oh shyt". There were moments when I felt he overacted a bit, and it took me out of the movie, but it only happened twice. And I mostly blame the director for that. The camera sometimes lingered too long on his face to exaggerate his transformation and discomfit, which was constant. More subtlety would have been effective in these moments.
I know this is "The Coli", and transgenderism is a big no-no, but regardless of your feelings about the topic, at it's heart, this movie about someone struggling with identity, acceptance, and authenticity. There's a lot of chemistry between Eddie and the woman who played his wife, and it really helped make their struggle more sympathetic. Eddie's performance felt so personal that it left me pretty sad. It also raised a lot of questions about what constitutes mental illness, who gets to determine gender (vs. sex), how do we get trained to perform our gender, and why do we care so much about the very few who say this body isn't mine. Like I said, there were a few places I thought where it could have been edited for pacing and less dramatic effect, but overall this was really well done.
Two thumbs up.

Me and my eldesst son will be watching this. He was bugging me to take him.
I don't give a fukk about an Oscar but if Redmayne wins again and beats Leo, everybody's getting dapped in honor of @FlyRy.
