They don't want to look bad in the media because it'll hurt their bargaining power. The Cowboys have to hope that a top FA will take less, or they're going to have to overpay them. People like Skip Bayless still think that "playing for America's team" is the only selling point the Cowboys need.

No top free agent is going to come here for less. Cowboys are a mom and pop front office. Everyone but the cowboys know that. Regardless of the hype the media and fans have for the cowboys it's clear that virtually no player in the entire league respects this team when it comes to football.

Zeke held out until he got the most money EVER.

Dak held out until he got damn near the most guaranteed money EVER.

Byron Jones left within 5 minutes of free agency. I clicked F5 one time and this nikka was putting on a Dolphins jersey.

Witten just up and retired and didn't even give the cowboys a heads up.

Travis Frederick retired and didn't even give the cowboys a heads up. Dude was like yeah I was a pro bowler this year but this disease has made football to hard to be great so I'm done.

Randy Gregory spent his whole career being suspended, got 6 sacks ONE SEASON, then bounced.

They asked Amare to restructure. NOPE

Remember when we asked Zach Martin to play tackle and he said NOPE

Robert Quinn came here and didn't make one attempt to keep outside contain the whole season. He just bull rushed the QB every game, got his sacks, and went to Chicago.

“It’s disrespectful,” argues Lawrence. “It’s disrespectful to me, and also disrespectful for what I did for the Dallas Cowboys.”

Even though he says he was not interested in moving his family, Lawrence explained that he told the team it was time to part ways.

“I wish you all would cut me,” Lawrence said he told Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones. “And Stephen’s like, ‘All right, I’m going to have to bring your offer to Jerry to see what he says. But I’m pretty sure he’s going to be pretty pissed about it, because he just gave you $65 million.'”

———————

What exactly did he do for Dallas? He threatened to delay his surgery if they franchised him. They paid him like he was a top 3 defensive lineman and he never played like it. He got suspended, and hurt.

So again, what exactly did he contribute to Dallas while he’s been there so far?

This is disingenuous. He played with a torn labrum and then the cowboys tried to low ball him and franchise him talking about his production wasn't high enough. That's the exact type of shyt that makes Dak and Zeke say "I'm going to hold out and demand top dollar cause I done already seen how Stephen get down when its time to talk money."

he played injured because it was a contract year. Up to that point, his first 3 years were meh at best. He had ONE good year in 2017, and 10 sacks in 2018. Since then, he's been paid over $65 million or over $20 million a year for a grand total of 14.5 sacks. $10 million for one year is worth that much.

Exactly.

We may not like the contracts that's been dealt, but you can't blame the players for seeking security.

What is loyalty in sports? Like seriously.

If I help somebody, I don't really expect anything to return. I do it because I want to. The whole point is to see someone get ahead and put themselves in a better position than before. Not to give them help now so you can reap the benefits later at their expense. More often than not they'll return the favor because the initial help comes from a genuine place. If they decide to return the favorite then its because they want to and not because they have to. A genuine approach goes a long way. Jerry is loyal, but he's not THAT loyal. Not even gonna get into Stephen.

Jerry's loyalty only goes as far as your talent and production. He was loyal to Ware until injuries caused the production to dip and didn't match the salary. Let him go. He was loyal to Romo until injuries prevented his production from matching his salary. Dak came in and Jerry didn't let him get his job back. He was loyal to Dez and his situation until his production didn't match the salary. He let him go. He was loyal to Jaylon and his situation until his production didn't match his salary. He let him go. He was loyal to Collins and his situation until his production didn't match his salary. Now he's looking to trade him.

Is Gregory obligated to the Cowboys because they "stuck" by him? No because if he didn't perform and show flashes then he would've been let go a long time ago with no offers on the table. And I doubt the Cowboys would've continued to use their resources to help him. It's not about him as a person, it's about him as a player. If they really gave a damn about him as a person then they would've then simply applaud him for the turnaround he's made since he came into the league and understand that a team came with a better offer with no contingencies in his deal. Be happy for him. Its business. They approached the negotiations as business and he treated it as such. It is what it is.

His contract was bullshyt anyway. 5 years and $70M was reported but the guarantee was only $28M so really it was 2/$28M with $14M per. He likely isn't seeing the rest of the $42M and then add on the stipulations on top of that. It's easy to get caught up in shyt as an athlete. Forget the weed. All it takes is something out of your control like a goofy homeboy or a bitter ex-gf to blow up your situation. Anything can happen so you can't blame him for taking the route where if something happens then at least he knows he's getting money coming his way.

What is loyalty in sports? Loyalty got Russ and Bobby Wagner moved on the same day. They came in together and stuck it out the longest. The Seahawks need to do a proper rebuild and those two don't help their bottomline so unfortunately, they had to move them. So much for loyalty when there wasn't even the common decency of a phone call to Bobby Wagner to give him a heads up.

At the end of the day coaches and members of the front office move just as much as players and operatorate in the best interests of their bottomline, but they don't get the same flack. I don't blame a player for looking out for self because everybody else will do the same when it comes down to it. We should applaud loyalty when it comes around, but a player isn't obligated. shyt, most of these owners aren't obligated to put a winning product on the field as long as their financial obligations are satisfied. Front office and coaches aren't loyal to the job because they leave for better positions all the time. Why ask the players for loyalty when history shows it's often one sided. Hell, where's the loyalty when the CBA rolls around? :mjpls:

Dallas would basically have to tank. But with a player like Parsons on your team and they money they are paying Dak, that’s not an option.

correct and that’s why they will be mediocre for the next few years. I’m just prepared for it tbh. Also crapshoot or not, the better qbs are usually drafted in round 1 and the teams usually contend year in and year out are drafted round 1.

the goal is to win. Lawrence and Gregory didn’t contribute to that. Dallas used a 2nd round pick on Gregory. He paid them back by missing 2 full seasons because he was suspended. He can kick rocks. fukk him and his cac wife.

Lawrence got paid $65 million over the past 3 years. And he didn’t live up to it. He can kick rocks too. fukk him and his cac wife.

Well that's what happens when he is the only non trash defensive lineman we have had in years. Wouldn't have to cash him out all the time if we had other players who were something other than trash
