you are kind of wrong. It all depends on the time and culture we are talking about. I assume you are talking about western culture and in that case land was usually owned by the aristocracy so poor people were not getting shyt. That changed with the rise of middle class but even then it was usually the upper middle class who could afford land and what not. My point being that people who could afford land were already rich or close enough while those who were poor never could. That has not really changed.

i was actually thinking of Eastern and native american civilizations......

i feel what u saying tho.....

thanks for the input

Why dont you think its a ruse?

Yes, i would prefer a society that operates on no credit

I didn't make a claim one way or the other about credit being a ruse, you did. I'm asking for an explanation. I never put much thought into this issue, so I want to see where you're coming from.

What would be the benefits of a society without credit?

you guys are getting bogged down in the details. threadstarter is completely right from a macro perspective. you just have to see the history of the last two (three?) decades to see all the big economic gains have been based on bubbles (internet, housing, etc.)

But if you have money you are always going to have credit in one shape or another. They go hand in hand.

There does need to be more regulation of banks though.

Not really that is just good advertising on there part. I mean no matter how you dress it up it is a pretty shytty deal. You borrow money you don't have and pay it back at an interest. :what: fukk that.

But companies usually prey on people who can not handle money so they are in debt to them.

Would you rather criminal organizations handle the system of credit?

I don't think that's his point though

Essentially what he's saying is that allowing a credit based economy is a moral hazard and a dummy/inflated economy. (Probably using installment buying and the roaring 20s and the depression as his basis)

But this is something we all know/understand isn't it.

Which is why banks will continue to be too big to fail. :win:

I dont like you..............but i wish you the best sir..........

Personally tho, I feel that whats best for you is you running into a pack of wild nikkas, wearing something they want, while out and about with your wife..........id like those wild nikkas to apply just enough pressure on you to force you into showing your terricloth makeup in front of your wife without doing to much..........I think the realization that you would gain by knowing the soft make up of your dna coupled with the loss of respect your wife would have for you afterwards would ultimately make u a better person...........thats just me tho.......only God really knows whats best for you.....

Bless your heart ugly man

Oh

Well credit wasn't the only problems. I have a problem with money in general but i guess we are not far enough in our development to do anything without a instant reward.

My first post gives you an idea of where im coming from...........

Credit is pacifing the masses of people who use it as a way to obtain things they really cant afford (housing, cars, etc.), the false purchasing power created by the credit system is also inflating the price of most everything in society which in turn is creating a system that is dependant on credit to survive, etc........

what would be the benefits of a society without credit........

firstly a righteous indignation would occur among the poorer segment of society as it is forced to adapt to a way of living that accuractly depicts their financial condition (I.E. homelessness, carlessness, etc.)

.............

ill pick up on this later if i feel like it........i got some cotton to attend to right now

you lost if you're using credit for more than cars and homes

:rudy: @ thats how the "wealthy" do it. you have to have money in order to be wealthy. in order to have wealth you can't have debt. credit is debt.

unless your a serious business person, like a realtor or broker, credit is a trap.
