They did the right thing. Was glad to see the people voted no. And I'm a daily weed smoker. What most outside folks don't realize is that amendment was pushed by Trulieve (a major dispensary company) and it really only benefitted them. All the amendment would have done would've made it so only Trulieve (or other corporate dispensaries) would be the sole retailers of recreational marijuana. Same rules would apply if you have personal weed in your car and get pulled over by police as they did with medical card holders, you would need to prove the weed came from a dispensary either with a receipt or the container/packaging. Only commercially produced weed would be legalized. You would still get a penalty if you had your own weed not from a dispensary. So it wasn't an amendment to TRULY legalize weed. The BIGGEST reason folks voted no, was because it would still prohibit Floridians from growing their own personal plants. You would be forced to buy from commercial dispensaries or risk consequences of getting caught with non-dispensary weed. They tried to trick the people into thinking it was a "legalize marijuana" amendment but it was not... and folks did not go for the okey doke. The only way an amendment will get passed in Florida is if it is like the California rules, where you are free to grow your own personal and it is truly fully legalized across the board.Miami-Dade county voted AGAINST legalizing weed
