6h, 16 tweets, 3 min read The reason why alot of antiwoke/dirtbag/ post left people talked shyt on last summers uprisings and ironically and or indirectly supported the Capitol pusche insurrection is because of race.
Last summer black population in america proved that it was the most revolutionary subject and most importantly captured a huge portion of the NonBlack population to oppose racist state sanctioned violence against black people.
These were some of the biggest uprisings the world has seen since the arab spring and there was solidarity shown all across the world from many different races and ethnicities. Everyone united in opposition to antiblack police violence. Whiteness was decentered
This population of white "leftists" for some odd reason immediately took the side of capital. They had an immediate kneejerk reaction in opposition to the uprisings because in that moment they realize they could no longer weaponize their paternalism that plagues the left
Bernie Sanders in all the good he has done culturally still represents a form of comfortable white paternalism and many of these types were former bernie supporters.
because of this alot of these types were able to comfortably wade in leftism without confronting things like the group identity that emerged out of the financial crisis. Out of that emerged an identity of white resentment and anxiety that was betrayed by politicians in 90s
So when the Capitol pusche happened those contradictions within that white class immediately surfaced for the world to see. It was an easy way for people to empathize with this class without confronting the lies of racism that motivates them.
Their alienation is a mixture of downward trajectory because of polict failure and racist lies and myths. They can't seem to recognize that they're also being pimped by capitalism and blame racialized people instead
So basically what I'm trying to say is alot of these people are motivated by class resentment and racism that they should've dealt with a long time ago before even attaching themselves to the left.
The thought of being antiracist scares these people because it fundamentally challenges their position in society and that position is the status quo of whiteness. Whiteness is the default setting.
imo if you look at the cultural landscape "whiteness" aint what it used to be and it's becoming increasingly irrelevant to the conversation even in it's most liberal manifestations and that very thing scares some people.
This is why these types are so hell bent on waging those fake culture war points against neoliberal representational politics is... To them it's not even about a class war but rather some way to maintain whiteness via the empire. The statuse quo.
If you pay close attention to these types you can see them slip up every once in awhile and the racism surfaces
One of the ways you can see the racism surface from time to time is based on who attaches themselves to this "culture war". Right wing is obsessed with "critical race theory" or even types like Aimee Terese harbor an audience of white nationalists. It intersects.
I saw these contradictions slip up so hard when I was deep in these circles. It's pretty crazy to see it first hand.
To me I just find this deeply cowardice. These people keep showing they don't really care about nikkas and only do socialism for aesthetics and don't believe in anything.
