The entire first half of the 90's was all about two names in console gaming, Nintendo & Sega. There were a bunch of other systems that came out in that '91-'95 period trying to compete and most of them bricked. Then you had the big two dropping much hyped next gen systems in 95-96...then we saw Sony had a system dropping out the blue with no expectations from anyone. I think they had something out a couple years before that nobody bought...

Then PS1 hit the ground running, and once word of mouth got around it was over. N64 was still a hit and did it's thing, but PS1 was easily the better success...and Saturn was just annihilated.
When I convinced pops to put that $100 down to rent PS1 from Blockbuster :banderas:

It was more Nintendo trying to milk cartridge royalties that helped Sony. The limited storage space killed N64. Imagine Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, etc. on N64.

Also, Nintendo screwing Sony in their initial joint system venture that they were going to do together and Sega screwing themselves several times over with their repetitive bad decision making those next 4-5 years.

Yea Nintendo's hubris in not adopting CDs was the reason they languished the next 2 gaming generations. But Sony learned not to the mistakes Sega did. Priced it competively and got a killer app in FFVII

Nintendo bringing gaming back after the video game crash of the 80s was pretty big. revived a whole industry.

Sony came in the game strong, and made the industry stronger overall. It's funny though because a lot of y'all hate on MS and Nintendo but Sony basically

Came in the scene, peeped what everyone was doing. Saw they couldn't compete with Sega and the arcade scene they had and Nintendo and the 1st party titles they were building, so they locked down exclusive titles, bought a big publisher, scrapped there devkits after Psygnosis was like yeah it's trash and took theirs... then proceeded stomp out Sega and push there own products aka CDs and blu rays.

You continue to overstate this narrative that literally no one has ever given a shyt about in the history of gaming ever, but you.

Psygnosis was a drop of water in the ocean as far as the industry is concerned and Sega's undoing has and always will rests solely on their own mistakes and no on else's doing. Not sure why you obscenely and obsessively pick over the former with a fine tooth comb and overlook the latter like you have convenient amnesia on how history really played out here.

Mad Titan doesn’t actually follow video game history, just his xbox stan echo chamber. Sega said themselves they were killing playstation back in the day

The former president of Sega just had a whole interview about all the fukked up thngs they were doing back then including the 32x that caused them to lose a shyt ton of money, then they followed it up with the Saturn…

That poster is a doofus. Sega's history of mismanagement and bridge burning is well documented at this point. Any other excuse for their downfall is fantasy land bullshyt.
