That really makes it a faux pas.
I wear boat shoes all year around and I look great.
Winter I rock em with some heavy rugged socks, in the fall with some nice argyle or striped socks.
Whats the problem breh?

It defeats the purpose of the boat shoe.
People who live in landlocked states and wear boat shoes can barely pull it off, wearing socks with them in the winter and fall is pushing it.
Frankly, they look like try-hards. That's all.
Now if you have the boat shoe/boot in the winter like I posted that's alright.
It's like people who wear sandals and jeans, or long sleeves and shorts. It's people looking to be so fashionable and trendy thinking their life is a runway instead of dressing for function like any normal Earth dwelling human being.
I wear them just like the pics I posted.

They are all essentially try-hards yes. Anyone who willingly posts on any menswear blogs and has their pic taken for a menswear/sartorial blog is a try-hard.
That dude with the glasses has had his pic posted on Unabashedly Prep for years now.
What makes it worse is that the majority do it with no hint of irony or self-awareness.
