Aight, if we can tear our attention away from all the famous breasteses for 90 minutes, this week we've got a 2004 british film directed by Shane Meadows, Dead Man's Shoes

deadmansshoescover31.jpg

There's a lot going on in this but mainly it's a revenge thriller. Y'all might know the director from his period 80s skinhead flick This Is England and the TV series that spun out from it (Misfits/ Utopia fans might want to peep).

The main actor Paddy Considine was in the last two Cornetto trilogy flicks (Hot Fuzz, The World's End)
He's a dope actor, even though he's got Asperger's Syndrome apparently (:leon:), if anyone digs this check out his directorial debut from 2011 Tyrannosaur. Y'all might also know him as the reporter who gets murked in the train station in The Bourne Ultimatum)

Playing his character's brother is Toby Kebbel, most recently seen heard as the voice of Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Now, controversially this is not on Netflix/ Amazon Prime to my knowledge, but I felt strongly enough about the film to bring it through to the people anyway :birdman:

If you can be bothered to fire up a torrent for this film it'll be worth your while

A so-so stream is available here

Anyone who wants to luxuriate in a high definition viewing experience imma assume you know how to steal shyt from the internet as usual...

This is a good movie and Paddy Considine is a British treasure. The first time I watched this, there weren't any subtitles so I had the worst time understanding anyone but damn the ending still packed a hell of a punch.

Really dark movie but Paddy Considine and Toby Kebbell nailed it. For the record, the plot of the movie is about a hardened veteran who returns to his hometown to take revenge on the men who bullied his mentally handicapped brother while he was abroad. And it's funny you should mention Considine's director debut Tyrannosaur because that movie is almost equally as dark as this one is. Something in that man's mind definitely turned the lights off.

Well, when you're right you're right. I just read today he's got a condition called Irlen syndrome where light fukks up the way his brain processes information. He has to wear tinted contacts to function normally apparently

I agree about Kebbell, if anyone know's an actor better portraying a mentally handicapped person I'd like to know it.

So I just finished this and it's kinda hard to give a decent review with my usual pros and cons of this flick cause the accents were so thick that I missed a lot of the conversations and intricacies of the character interactions with one another. Having said that this was a pretty good revenge thriller.

A couple thoughts:

The main character and his slow brother displayed some damn good acting all things considered.

My favorite scene is round 30 minutes in when Sonny meets Rich and he lets him know he's comin after him, he gave no fukks right there.

For like 4/5's through the movie I was like :dahell: all that cause they was just fking around with your brother, it wasn't until
They showed that his brother killed himself
that I was like :ehh:I understand.

Kinda wish I had seen a subbed version or something.
