it's nowhere near the original chronic but judgin' it off of it's own merit and that of other hip hop albums since it's released, it's been by far the last great hip hop album in all of hip hop and rap music

no hip hop album since the chronic 2001's release has gotten it right on all levels like the chronic 2001 did. all of the songs and skits on this album are classic, the lyrics were impeccable, the guest appearances were perfect, the beats were excellent, the production was flawless, the sequencin', mixin' and masterin' were immaculate, and the album's sound was cohesive as fukk

this album is like an event or adventure with each and every listen :ohlawd:

i like this album more in hindsight. the politics are woefully retrogade. dre cant even bring some nuance to his sexism, but as songs with structure and music yeah its dope.

Dre is the greatest person in hiphop BUT if I had to rank albums he's produced (executive produced)
GKMC would end up higher than 2001.

Chronic
SOC
Doggy
No one can
GKMC
N4L
2001
MMLP
GRODT
Documentary or Eminem Show

would be my top 10, in that order.

But yes, it's a fukking classic.
I can't put it as high as calling it the last great album though. BP, GKMC, CD, Be, Ob4cl2, Stankonia, LR and more are easily on the same level.

I think it's a great album but have heard many great albums since, 2001 was dope as hell though, standouts were crazy, a few cuts that weren't necessary though that brought down the overall quality a little to me.
