I honestly believe that Poole has to be a key factor in this to nullify whatever Lakers role player shows up throughout the majority of the series. The support cast can't perform like they did in the previous series and expect to win this. And if he doesn't, it's likely the Lakers win.

He does.

And I'm mad we got ourselves in this situation depending on the undependable.

Unless Donte can recapture that restaurant quality jumper he had earlier in the year.

But yeah JP is an important offensive weapon.

That's an interesting discussion re: roster changeover.

All the Warriors did was trade their #2 pick for a player [GP2] they had last season, and the Lakers added Vanderbilt, Dlo, Rui, Beasley, Bamba etc. Would we even be talking about the Lakers in the playoffs if they didn't make those moves? And for argument's sake just say they did make the playoffs, imagine what would happen if the Lakers didn't make any moves and the Warriors added another big, another wing and guards....
The Warriors already have a championship roster.. Draymond, Wiggins, Klay, Looney, Poole, even a guy like DiVincenzo is a quality supporting cast. They had an above .500 record in the games Steph missed (similar to the record they have in games Steph plays). The Lakers had a roster full of minimum contracts because most of the cap was consumed by a backup PG. They swapped that PG out for rotation level players (even that is a stretch with Bamba and Beasley) and became one of the better teams in the league. None of those guys you mentioned were heralded besides Vando.. Rui was traded for nothing and DLO is a journeyman that the Dubs even traded because they realized he wasn't a championship player. The fact that they became a real team again with a makeshift roster formed after the deadline is a testament to the Bron/AD duo, imagine if they still had quality role players like KCP, Caruso, and Monk.

I think the series will largely be dependent on how the Lakers defend Steph.

When AD is on the screener the Lakers have employed a high drop where AD flashes at the 3 and recovers. It worked really well in the regular season.

When AD is not in the action the Lakers will probably trap him and let AD defend the 4 on 3s.

Will be interesting to see how Kerr adjusts.

His body is already creaking. It ain't suriving another series, especially having to play every other day.

This series might be a win/win for you.

I'd be surprised if something doesn't come out about Poole's year after Golden State's season ends. His assist numbers are slightly up but his playmaking hasn't been nearly as good as last season. He forces so much shyt now instead of setting guys up.

Kerr hasn't reigned him in either. There's more to the story of the fallout from The Sucker Punch. He's played like he knows he can do whatever he wants on the court without repercussions.

I want to see him play like Darius Garland going forward instead of Curry.

But yeah, Poole has to be lights out for GS to win this series. Schroder's probably gonna get a lot of minutes matched up with him and he's gonna make it real difficult. Plus, he talks shyt and could get Poole riled up to prove a point instead of playing under control.

Steph achieved final boss status…

I got warriors in 7, for a couple reasons, the game 7 will be in the bay , so homecourt helps the warriors, Lakers are not a fast team so that helps the warriors because one of the issues with the kings is the fact the kings could run like crazy on the warriors. Lakers run some but not at the young level. LeBron is shooting terribly from outside and outside of a game or so I don't expect that to change and finally I expect Davis to go down for a game or 2 this series because well he is Anthony Davis. Not that I'm wishing that but i expect something to happen that sends him to the locker room for a half and possibly a game or so.

If klay can get his shot going warriors might do it in 6. But I still expect a classic 7 game series.

Steph has averaged:

  • 21.5 (-7.9) points 7.2 (+2.5) assists 5.0 rebounds 42.4% (-6.9) FG 34.6% (-8.2) 3PT

in 39 games versus the Lakers in his career.

Klay has averaged:

  • 20.3 points 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists 43.9 (-1.6) FG 39.4 (-2.2) 3PT

in 38 games against the Lakers in his career.

I know the playoffs are different but they have always been underwhelming when they play against the Lakers, even when the Lakers were trash. Game 1 is going to be interesting.
