i would have included cena as well but he just put over AJ so he's kinda cooled off a bit.

pretend you are a casual viewer, now have a look at this poster:

SummerSlam_2016.jpg

:ld:who might you assume is the champion?

:ld:even if it weren't the guy dead in the middle, would you guess that the champion could possibly be one of those guys in the corner that got bottom billing?

:ld:or that the guy who actually WON the big title that night didn't even make the poster?

you get the point.

what credibility does the title have if the guys competing for it are 5th to last on the card at all the big time ppvs?:patrice:

i know the main argument against brock being the champion is that he isn't there all that much, but wouldn't you rather have the championship be in the main event part time... than parade around in mid card full time? :ld:

I agree Brock should have the title and it really shouldn't be competed for that much, maybe 3 times a year max, just to give it that level of prestige.
3 seems like overkill, but I'd be down for 4-5 a year.

it can't be too rigid imo. you also gotta make room for that surprise, unplanned title match like once a year just to keep everyone on their feet.

That might have worked in 1993 but it's not gonna work in 2016.
I Actually agree. The business is overexposed and oversaturated. Which means the demand is high and people are gonna want to see their champion. I dont want to see those godawful complaints from all the internet fans about the champion not being there.

They did this already with Brock and Rock anyway. I actually think Rock did it better. I know people didn't like his reign and run but Rock actually utilized the notion of being a special attraction champion. He only had matches on PPVs and carried the belt around with him while he was doing his Hollywood promo. It felt like Brock got the belt ( in an awesome way If I might add) and just dipped until it was time to return.

I had no problem with Brock's title reign, I had a problem with them never even coming up with a reason as to why the champion and title was gone. Even something as simple as Heyman saying Brock didn't think there was any suitable competition left so he was leaving till the locker room stepped up would've worked. Instead they acted like he didn't exist until a title match was announced. Why wasn't the Authority mad the title and champion was gone, why didn't they make an effort to get the belt off him when he was around? There was much potential there but it was lazy writing.

The Rock actually had some good promos as champion (and chasing the title) too. He also wrestled in three consecutive PPVs. Brock mysteriously disappeared as champ after NOC '14
