Can't go over the cap to sign a free agent. Now if the Cavs had Love under contract then they could go over the cap to sign him to a new deal. This is why everyone is worried about giving up too much for him....unless the move makes the Cavs a championship team, not just contenders, it handcuffs them as far as flexibility goes next offseason and beyond.
