Again, the right thing is to build your current roster and keep Wiggins.
But don't be delusional in thinking that you will sign big time free agents by working around concrete math of the salary cap.
There are variables like
1. what are the expectations - ESPN has Ohio fans thinking 26% losing at the ECF, 28% losing in the NBA finals and 24% winning the NBA title this year - those are high expectations
2. How long until David Blatt and David Griffin are put on the hot seat from their coaching and GM positions?
3. Does LeBron have an early opt-out? Kyrie has one before the 2019 season, so that's not too bad.
I hate when people and teams are shortsighted, I would want the sixers to build for the long term. However, in a field where jobs aren't guaranteed for the long run and you have a chance to make a boat load of money via marketing and have a chance at one of the truly greatest sport stories ever, its hard to expect them to not wager a future people might not be a part of.
I think Wiggins will be a superstar, moreso at a different location. No matter what, Love/Bron/Irving's game fits way better and will always stretch the field way better than Bron/Wiggins/Irving.
I think this is a harder choice to turn down than the hardcore basketball fans that love triumphing the next superstar realize
