That storyline is necessary for two reasons: 1.) Homosexuality then in the day, especially in the year 1990, was completely TABOO. That was an instant career killer, females included. You would not dare to come out the closet or even admit that you are gay. Which is why that subplot was necessary. Here's a rapper that knew he was exposed and felt his rap career and his repetition was ruined. It wasn't necessary to push a gay agenda, but to showcase that was INDEED the reality of that period in contrast to today where we got these homos purposely doing questionable stuff. 2.) This also shows the depth Nikki is willing to go in telling a habitual lie. She was all there trying to comfort this gay dude as if she really cares, but could not careless about his situation and only cared about him getting to the show. She even celebrated and brag how she conjured up that lie on the fly conning this dude. She is a snake to the fullest extent.

You bring up a good point but they got to push that shyt in almost every single show now a days.

I feel all those lies make her a life less caricature that is way to exaggerated and makes her character a little less authentic because she is lying so fukkin much that even if you asked her about the weather she would tell you a lie. I get that people lie in the business and what not but even in the scene where she had that gun on her, shyt looked fake. You know she would have some way lied her way out of that one.Though I'm interested to see what she does when Foray asks her if Nicki really did meet him at the music seminar.

They clearly made her character the way it is so we would hate her lol.

Also to your first point, rappers have been saying since the early 90s that there are gay rappers out there. It's like the industry's worst kept secret. No one has named names though but that shyts been a reality since then
