Jon Snow was always the dude you knew had potential to be a top guy, but he just didn't want it enough. He was too ready to put other talents over and the "You know nothing" gimmick made it hard for fans to take him seriously despite his talent.

He always stayed over though, and while the end was controversial, he ultimately left the business healthy and got to return to his passion of developing young Free Folk talents.
