I laugh - but its actually a more complex thing than people realize.
Hawaii jails have been stuffed to the brim for ages and on top of that, some of their worst they don't want to intermix with the regular population at all. So the solution was to export prisoners. Not hard to imagine what that means when guys get back.

There are a lot of us who want to mimic that lifestyle, and think it’s cool, without actually wanting to kill people. I have yet to come across any guidos or Bennys who emulate the mafia lifestyle, unless they keep it low key.

I remember a documentary posted on here where a white man straight up admitted that cops and judges would never take bribes from and work with the black gangs the same way they did with the Italian mafia.
The fact is that black gangs simply can't go legit the same way the mafia was able to.
