My life is different when I meditate 20 minutes a day. I've also been running a mile a day, every single day, since Thanksgiving :blessed:

Doing a mile-a-day 2020 challenge with my wife. We're on Day 34 now. It's actually my 69th consecutive day counting the Thanksgiving runs.

It makes a huge difference. I encourage y'all to align your mind, body, and spirit because it fuels everything.

Do it breh. It'll change your life.

Any meditation tips for someone just starting?

Honestly, the only thing I would say is to do it. Maybe read up on the benefits a little bit first to see why people do it. There are countless benefits, but on a brain level, it activates our parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is the gas pedal, fight or flight response that has us in attack mode. That's the state most of us are in all the time due to stress and anxiety. Most of that happens as a result of our mind wandering to thoughts and fears that keep us on edge.

The parasympathetic system, which meditation activates, is the brakes that let you experience calm, lower blood pressure and calmness to address life as it comes along. Your thoughts will be clearer and you will be less prone to being at the whim of life's problems or your own thoughts and nerves.

With that said, think of meditation as a pass or fail practice, not something that you get better at. Set a timer for meditation every day. Start with 7 minutes if you don't think you're ready to go balls to the wall. Your goal should be to meditate for 20 minutes every single day, no matter what.

Sit down somewhere comfortably, on the floor or in a chair, close your eyes or let them look into the distance, and simply focus on your breathing in and out. Breathe as fully as you can without it being labored.

If you notice your thoughts wander to mental chatter (which it will infinite times!), don't beat yourself up, just make note of it without judgment and go back to focusing on your breathing. Once the timer is up, get up and go about your day.

That's it, breh. Don't get caught up in what the experience is supposed to be, just get those reps in each day and you will feel like you're the one in charge of your own thoughts and your own life, and will be less distracted by everything life throws your way.

I mentioned brain stuff, but meditation is great for your mind, body and spirit :blessed:

Again, it's a practice. Do it every day and I promise you're going to rush back into this thread sooner than later talking about how your life changed. The best way that I could describe it is that the presence of mind and consciousness that it builds within you helps you to be more comfortable in who you are and it enriches your experience of every part of life, because you'll be working with your mind and body and not unconsciously against it.

Blessings breh. Weed can be beneficial to meditation depending on how you use it. But of course, you gotta make sure you're using the weed and not letting the weed use you.
