i told my homeboy who told me he was about to watch and got to see it before i viewed it....

i said.."hey mane...i guarntee you they gonna have to refrence the god Al Haymon in that documentary...if clarence is this so called black godfather"

he was like..."breh chill with that shyt....you act like AL is heard and seen everywhere" :stopitslime: :russ:

and your post confirms that!!....

its like my old boss told me.... "listen mane....dont get it twisted this entertainment community is smaller than you think ..especially amongst us black folk...ALL THE BOSSES regardless of thier place of orgin and differences are ALL CONNECTED TO SOME DEGREE"
:yeshrug:

the OG never lied....Clarance Avant...Richard Parsons...Al Haymon ....Barack Obama...Suge Knight...Don King....Andre Harrell...P. Diddy...Jprince..Sam Watson....Sylvia Rhone...Steve Stoute...Dame Dash....Tony Draper...Tyrone Williams...Gary Fisher...Ted Lucas....Ed Boyd....Henchmen...David Hyatt...Barry Hankerson...Big Meech...H.B....Skeng Don...Fadda Eaton....Eric Vassel......Ali Zoe....Dudus.,,,Larry Hoover....Gator Bradley ....just to name a "few"

Only sad thing about this is the fact with all that he accomplished he end up going broke for a bit.

That's the reality of life and doing business. No one has all sunny days in business. He (and his family) was honest about the fact that he over-extended himself. Now, he also didn't cop to it until they foreclosed on stuff, which put even more pressure on the family. The crazy thing was that those same dudes who he went to war with to get that bag for everyone, were the ones who bailed him out.

The comeback story is even more nuts. Tabu Records??? Jam and Lewis...Janet's Control album...Cherrelle...Alexander O'Neal...MJ bad tour...passed over to Al Haymon, and the rest is history there....LA & Babyface...TLC, Toni Braxton, Outkast..... I had no idea he was involved in all of this.

But that Puff story.... just wow

Honestly, I don't know about that, but he had a lot of major clout in all industries, not just entertainment. I mean, hell, you got Obama and Clinton waxing poetically over this dude....

But then, it appears that he came up under Al Capone's folks. They taught him the biz and apparently "backed" his moves. Hell, they sent him out to LA to work Lalo Schifrin (google him) into movies. Got Jim Brown into the movies at the behest of Art Modell....and had Jim Brown in the first interracial love scene in the 1960s.....did the Save The Children concert/documentary in 1972 that brought together the most powerful black music labels of the time (Motown, Stax and Arista) to do concerts together with their respective stars....

That's a different kind of power to be able to pull all of that off. He had to walk in many worlds, and he did and came out relatively unscathed. It's a very interesting documentary.
