She came out with a web series specifically about her being an akward black suburban girl.

Stop trying to sabatoge her because you’re mad about her super accurate Uche character.
Awkward Black Girl and Insecure are my shyt!
She has done nothing to get cancelled or shyt on but I will say she has become a bit bougie and since the success of Insecure. I definitely noticed she is a bit less down to earth.

I’ve never watched anything she’s made until this latest flick and I loved it so much I’m going to go back and watch all her old shyt.

She’s really talented.

Once you’ve been successful for years and years you get to see the full spectrum of human desperation and it can make you jaded toward common folk.

My brother's keeper
This is the problem with the hood culture being our primary representatives.
People starting to take pride in being poor and struggling. Even the children of wealthy rappers and athletes wanna pretend they grew up poor.

The good thing however is, people underestimate how many middle to upper class black people there actually are. There is a community there. The majority of black people aren't impoverished. I suggest she ignore the loud voices of the few. and focus on the entire black audience. She'll get love from the rest of us.
And it's not just a matter of pride in poverty, it's that poor became equal to criminality instead of working class which is the vast majority.

Issa Rae graduated from my high school a few months before I started there. It was a full magnet school, so lots of "awkward" Black kids, many from "good" homes. Lots of Nigerians. We had to wear uniforms. We were there to go to college. Couple of dudes wanted to bang, but it was poor cosplays.

You can drive by her dad's doctors office on the regular.

Never paid attention to her but new age types aren't hood at all. They dress and talk white.

Oldheads want it to still be the 90s, acting like Pac or DMX, acting a whole fool, skipping classes, doing random bids, loving in extreme poverty as the proper example of black folks. Like, if you grew up in a house with your 2 biological parents, you somehow "coddled" and "soft"

So I wonder how much of this was started by n-gga's who are either conservative or fcck with folks with the mindset of a Tariq or Umar?
