So its more about his presentation? That I can understand. However, just being a "nerd" or not from the hood in itself in my opinion doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day, we're all black and going through the same struggle of living in a society that no matter if you have 1 dollar or 1 billion dollars you are treated a certain way so I think in that context, there is room for everyone to have a voice. We all experience the struggle differently and all see the same social attitudes and institution that drive it.
Whether its through being harassed on the street to being denied relative housing and employment opportunities.
However, I totally get what you're saying otherwise. If it was only about words coming out of your mouth then more people would be W.E.B or Malcolm. Being able to connect to your audience is just as important. I agree dude comes off as one of those dudes who seem way too arrogant relative to how smart or profound he really is.
Personally, I can't really listen to these dudes too much because its too much of an echo chamber. I listen to other radio shows and the like but I have a natural aversion to what I see is a cult like echo machine. I already agree with a lot of what they are saying so its not stimulating to just hear it regurgitated back to me. I like seeing them use that knowledge to combat critics. That is why watching some of Malcolm's and Khalid's old interviews on tv are just so
because they are able to use that knowledge in battle and that is also why I was
at that Tariq "debate" because when he was scrutinized on his views he was unable to support them as well as when he is just talking to himself or have total control of the flow of conversation (i.e. yelling at callers and cutting them off. AKA Fox News tactics)
