I'm probably giving WWE too much credit as far as smart thinking goes but since they haven't made many legit stars in the last 15 years since Cena that they can bring back for dream matches, maybe they're holding on to the Ace Of Spades for a few years (if Lesnar will come back & if Lashley is still signed) because outside of that, they have very little star power. They used the Hardys, Dudleys, Outlawz, Goldberg, Benoit is dead, Rey is about to come back, HBK isn't coming back, Edge & Christian are done, they ended Sting's career, Cripple Ache came back more times than Freddy, & Kurt did his little 2 matches is out there looking like Mr. Magoo now.

Everybody else is either dead or nobody would care that much to see so my guess is since they're running low on options, maybe they're gonna wait for a Wrestlemania to do this one if the opportunity presents itself. That's the only logical reason I could think of that they're going with Reigns instead.

They don’t have a long term plan. Vince is lazy, content, so bent on control that he doesn’t want anyone to get big and have leverage over him or the brand, seemingly hates pro wrestling, and is flat out out of touch. A good example of this is how they snatch up guys off the indies and do nothing with them solely so nobody else can do anything with them. Eventually that’ll bite them in the ass too. They don’t plan on making new stars. To be honest the last star they made aside from Cena was Batista. Punk and Bryan were already big names when they joined and thrived in spite of Vince. Aside from Bryan and Roman, who we all know is getting this push solely because it’s what Vince wants, go and find me the last bright new star or relatively new to the company guy who was crazy over with the fans to headline Wrestlemania, meaning they closed the show. I’ll list them all since Cena first closed the show since that’s the point where the crowd was turning against who Vince wanted on top and he stopped listening to the paying customers. The list is only marginally better when you look at the top title matches since they don’t always close the show, but it’s hardly any better. It’s pretty bleak all around.

2006: Cena vs triple h
Fans were decisively against Cena in favor of the older guy who had been with the company for a long time

2007: Cena vs HBK
Same as 2006 but with Shawn instead of hunter

2008: edge vs undertaker
Crowd was behind taker since edge was the heel. Edge was with them for 10-11 years and taker for 18 years. I think this match helped Edge’s profile.

2009: Orton vs triple h
Randy was a 7 year vet with 3 world titles to his name, a 7 month IC title run, youngest world champ ever, and had a 6 month world title run already by this point.

2010: HBK vs undertaker
Crowd was hot for it but both guys had been around forever.

2011: Cena vs Miz
Miz flopped as a top heel and Cena was super stale by this point, having lost the support of the crowd some 5-6 years earlier. This match was booked entirely around rock getting involved to set up their match the following year not for the title and they devalued their top title in the process.

2012: Cena vs Rock
Same issue regarding Cena as before and rock debuted in 1996. Should not have closed the show.

2013: Cena vs Rock
Twice in a lifetime. We all felt like we’d been lied to and that this was solely to get Cena his win back

2014: Bryan vs Randy vs Batista
Bryan was the only guy with less than 8 years with the company

2015: Roman vs Brock
We’ve been over the issues with Roman already. Brock had debuted 13 years earlier as well. He was the most over heel though so that’s ok

2016: Roman vs triple h
Fans left by the thousands and Vince turned off the crowd microphones for a match nobody wanted

2017: Roman vs taker
A pointless match that nobody wanted between Roman and a 25+ year guy solely to give Roman another accomplishment. This did nobody any favors. No reason whatsoever for this to close the show.

2018: Roman vs Brock
Nobody wanted it in 2015 and they wanted it even less in 2018. The crowd spent the whole match shytting on the match. This had no business closing the show.

I say it all the time, but when Cena, taker, and hunter can’t go anymore in a few years, they’re gonna be in a lot of trouble for getting even casual fan interest for Wrestlemania since nobody is interesting these days.

Well if that's the case then it's gonna be Braun StRoman again for the next few years.
