Yea I know. Colonialism is a fact of life. But still the last thing one wants to see in a "beauty of africa" thread is those piggy white faces.

I understand where you're coming from.....I just noticed looking through pictures of their major city (Kinshasa) that it was a more mixed environment than some would probably want to believe. So I didn't want to convey a false narrative of the real life situation over there.

I personally enjoy cities that have a gritty look but very vibrant and cultured instead of tall skyscrapers and low population densities like most American cities besides New York, SF and Miami.

Agreed. That shiny, sanitized look of western cities has the effect of making it look cold and unliving. Unfit for human habitation. Like the inside of a vast machine. I think there's a large correlation between that kind of city planning and the "cog in the machine" lifestyle we've become accustomed to.

Thought I do have a bone to pick with the cramped cities shown in the picture. It can lead to the psychological issues shown in Calhouns rat experiment. WIth Africa being such a big continent and the proliferation of cars and bikes, I think spacier, more open cities should be something to look into.
