For me its The Mothman Prophecies, the use of suspense and no jump scares, both surprised me and terrified me completely.

No monsters
No Jump scars
No villain

Literally a thriller on Mulholland Drive status...extremely underrated.
i love true suspense without (cheap) jump scares...one of my biggest gripes with modern horror is the use of the cheap ones....walking thru a dark house and the music gets spooky then everything is dead silence then all of a sudden heres a jump scare thats just the kid's mom walking out to say dinner is ready :snoop:
