its been like 4 years since ive been but just sitting here thinking about stuff looking at old pictures and I realized how overrated Nassau, Bahamas was.

I stayed at the Riu next to Atlantis and I was at the Atlantis all the time so I got to see that place and yes it is sick with the casino and water parks but it gets old fast. In Nassau its small and only has a few clubs and overall the ocean water was clear but too rough to enjoy. We explored the downtown in like an hour and besides that there isnt much to see.

I had a fun time and some decent partying but staying for 3-4 days TOPS is the only way. not to mention it costs way to much for what it offers. for being so close it should be half the price

I much rather save money and do trips to countries off the grid for 2-3 weeks now instead of weekend trips only 3 hours away(from me)

OP arent u a fan of "skiing"

Its not hard to see why you would have a hard time relaxing

Only thing I would say is Bahamas are overpriced, all the Caribbean resorts are about the same. Cancun :ahh:

i actually "skied" when i was down there it was actually pretty good to and easy to get.

ive been to Cancun too i had a blast

Feasting on the finest crab meats >>>>>>>>>>>>

You went to Paradise Island, that's not Nassau proper (which is also touristy but more 90s). Nassau is getting more tourist friendly like Atlantis because they are building Baha-Mar a mega resort on the west end of the island where Cable Beach is. We have 700 islands and cays. You went to Vegas and expected Colorado... (Nassau/Paradise Island = vegas)

If you want an Island experience research where you going.

Look up Harbor Island, Eleuthera, Exuma, Long Island, ....

Yes its expensive our $1 is on par with USA. Again research,if you wanted to spend more youd go to DR or Cuba.

When me and my girl go we ditch the tourists spots and :eat: for da low, and thats in Nassau. We just went last month on a 3 day cruise from Miami, spent 1 day in Nassau and went to Freedom farms which is an organic outside dining spot, that sells Atlantis all the organic food and veggies. (They cant import it all by law). They went by Fish Fry for daiquiris until the cruise ship was ready to leave.

Again when visiting a spot hang with a local.

-------------------

For off the beaten path, we have at least 20 islands... Bimini, Exuma, Eleuthera, Andros, Mayaguana, Long Island, Rum Cay, Inagua, San Salvador etc etc

Put it this way Nassau is 21milesx7miles and has 300,000 locals. Long Island is 80milesx3miles and has 5000 locals

This link has the other islands ---> http://www.bahamas.com/our-other-islands/other-islands-bahamas
