The average player is more talented now, but they leverage that talent spamming 3s instead of spamming footwork and other skill sets

The average player today is more skilled than superstars in the ‘90s. :russ:

No-names are capable of stuff like this nowadays.

They had 7ft rim protectors on every team camped in the paint preventing these plays in the 90s. So only players who were really capable of posters were putting up these highlights. Now the center is at the 3pt line defending his man, so you get no name players putting up highlights.

Like i said before, Most of the differences in Athletes today are due to rule changes and strategy change. Not people jumping higher, or being better at the game.

One on one scoring skills (what most folks are thinking of when discussing skills) inside the arc are easier to contain with modern defensive rules...unless you can shoot or got shooters around you. The pace and amount of scoring/shooting demands a more all around team game and lessens the impact of an individual dynamic scorer. This was the case (shooting aside obviously) prior to what most dudes consider the golden era as well.

The game is less specialized as well. So unless you are pure shooter you gotta be able to contribute in multiple ways to see time on the floor.

This kid is not a no name.

He was so dope. He literally went to college and never played.

Then got drafted .
Kid totally made a mockery of the system.
