They went all in on it because that's where the money is at if you're successful. Like you said Sony fans aren't looking to Sony to fill that niche. There's only room for so many live service games. In order for Sony to break through they'd have had to dethrone something already successful.

I have a co-worker that's always genuinely upset about the latest gaming controversy. today he came in all mad about the THPS 3+4 remake, cause I guess they ditched the career mode. then he unironically says "they shot themselves in the foot"

It's funny how we think about "Greatest games ever" cause I wouldn't put Anno 1800 in that list, but between my play time in the game and me always thinking about it while playing another game...it most likely is my greatest game ever.

I've played this game going on 6 straight years. Only games I've played that long even semi consistently are mario, zelda, and gta. I'd have red dead redemption on this list two if they made enough of them.

I had more "fun" playing the god of war games...but if I added up all my play time in all the god of war games it wouldn't come close to my playtime of anno 1800.

So what does "greatest game ever" or "top 10 games ever" really mean? How the game made you feel or how much you actually play the game

I get it, but he doin too much. All they’re doing is taking the open world element out of it and putting it back to 2 minute sessions.

Tbh, they probably cut out a lot of bullshyt missions, and realized they could just truncate it into said sessions. Cuz really..how useless was the skitichin’ mission at the college? We probably play that shiit today and be like “bro, wtf”. These games are damn near 30 years old.

The game as a game is terrible.
Straight walking in between 5 different rooms back and forth getting this and bring it back here for 2 hours straight.
The story to me is mid. It tries to pull elements from The Shining and from Saw.
It's a cabin fever story with 2 particular scenes that are incredibly overrated.
Apparently people are praising this game as some kind of epic psychoanalysis and comment on society as a whole. It's not. It's just a story of cabin fever that could have been told in 30 seconds but dragged out across 2 hours with walking between rooms doing fetch missions.
To give it credit, I think if the dialogue would have been fully voiced it could have helped make an emotional connection; as is, the writing isn't all that, so I found reading it was boring as hell.
