This is why the console wars people fight online are silly.
If you would have invested $500 in Microsoft around the time the Xbox One came out in 2013 and just left it there according to this site it would have grown to almost $3500.

People spend all this time thinking about and constructing a bullish thesis for why these companies will be successful just to have meaningless arguments online. Most of these folks aren't investors. For all that you could literally peel off the money to buy all those consoles for the rest of your life and never have to come directly out of pocket again.
