The biggest mistake in the gaming industry of the 2000s... Hands down has to be M$ refusing to make Xbox a PC & Console brand from the start. Having it integrated into the OS like it is now.
They severely underestimated PC gamer growth into a multi-billion dollar industry. They flopped with the horrible, halfass Games for Windows lineup.
What's makes this all the worse is that Steam was hot garbage and niche till the Orange Box dropped.
It just blows my mind that we are finally getting dual releases on PC & Xbox after like 15 years.
It's probably for best that M$ doesn't make a right decision. Yet, it still one of WOAT misses in the gaming industry if you let Valve steal the gaming market on your own OS. Then, you had your gaming brand exclusively work on a fraction of the PC market with brand name distributors like Sony and Nintendo.. They just let a game developer take over their own OS and eat cake.
A proper Xbox Windows integration and prime Halo & Gears = No Steam Dominance
