I like the idea but my immediate thought was...

NOPE. make it cost of living adjusted to $60k because why would you work in philadelphia for $60k when you can be in a lower cost of living state/area for the same $60k
This low key will probably pull teachers from cities to cheaper suburbs and rural towns.

This will probably help rural areas the most, and while rural areas DO need help, it's not going to do as much for inner-city areas. But it's still a nice gesture.

The more time I've spent studying education systems, the more I've felt that adequate teacher pay is more of a basic requirement than it is a solution. Paying teachers an adequate wage should be done, but it's not going to fix anything until we make some major structural changes in our schools and school systems.

I'd highly recommend "The Shame of our Nation" by Jonathan Kozol and "The Schools Our Children Deserve" by Alfie Kohn as good overviews of what I see as the two largest problems. Both books are about 20 years old and sadly the issues they discuss have only gotten worse during that time.

teachers definitely lost a little clout during the pandemic, when it comes to the sympathy department. the refusals to get back in the class post-vaccine were :camby: your job is in-person supervision, not to be a glorified youtube video

i dont see this going anywhere, and im not sure that it should. feel free to go on strike, and pressure your local taxpayers

I don't think it should matter if the teachers are in rural or poorer states. 60k really isn't a lot of money and if the teachers are properly qualified the issue is moot anyways.

Rural areas have serious staffing issues as well so this may incentivize it granted I think underpopulated areas should be returned to a natural state

The main advocate of teachers being overpaid has children

i certainly dont have a problem with teachers making 60k, but they arent federal employees. so how does this work? the fed has to subsidize every underpaying rural shythole and make up the difference?

why wouldnt cities just drop the salary to 30k, so they didnt have to cover 60? :dead:

this only works by making every teacher a direct employee of the federal government. republicans would go ballistic :laff:

Its amazing how dogshyt you are at this. Like every time you post its nonsense and rarely worth reading. That kind of batting average is absurd especially for this board which has an abundance of agents, c00ns and dudes who think they're way smarter than they are.

This would be a fantastic idea. If the federal government picks up this tab and other states add based on their revenue teachers will finally get the salaries they deserve
