subject should be rhetorical?

the stats are going to be skewed...

have two sons
hold one illegally back for 300 years, then add bias, discrimination, segregation, etc
then dont hold one back for 300 years
then compare stats

whats new...

then create a kkkakkk false sense of superiority

folk, should be looking at other folk...

blacks should be compared to kkkakkk, especially with how such "game" is played at such fair, impartial, unbiased, friendly, environment

kkkakkk are not better, its just a false game

Keep playing victim, whilst millions of blacks are out there living their dreams.

It's not about playing victim it is about recognizing a REAL problem and starting a REAL dialog about how to fix it. Yes black people can make it and live out their dreams. But black people and poor people as a whole are at a severe disadvantage

Even if we do make it out the hood and find some success we are still at a major disadvantage cause our parents and grandparents were poor. So while the white kids parents are putting money away for their future. Our parents are still tryin to pay off grandmas house, and their student loans. So that makes us take out all types of loans to go to school, and the cycle continues. shyts fukked up. It's like even if we make it out we still got some climbing to do.

So while it is possible to overcome the odds, it's not the norm, and the deck is certainly stacked against you.

And as I think about it more...the undercurrent of racism in American society ironically is destroying the America that the racist Americans are trying to preserve.

I don't think he is talking about the odds at all, there were much better articles than this that did a better job explaining this premise. The argument is that whites had a chance to accumulate wealth and pass it on to future generations while blacks were on the sideline and wasn't able to participate much later in the game. Now to close the gap is gonna take a lot of work because white america has had a much bigger head start.

The undercurrent of racism seems comical, because we are such a small percentage of the population, just 13%. They are suckers for the status quo, they don't like change because it might threaten their way of life. These are the idiots that thinks it okay the Waltons (Walmart) have more wealth than the bottom 30% of Americans. Its not that we feel the Waltons shouldn't be rewarded for their hard work, problem is they stock piling all that money because they are not paying anyone or providing benefits.

Basically, but we are too resilient for that shiit.

yeaahhh at the same time it has challenged/created opportunity for progessiveness...thats why folk gotta beat them (financially) and look past them

and everyone, consciously/unconsciously is judged on how the group does as a whole...

we might look at it and say we doing better...

at the same time the cnn audience or blogger, some might read it and think, kkkakkk doing better and might affect one on one interactions...or some might say how do folks progressively get better

We shouldn't define ourselves by the White American Dream, it's an ideal that ironically 75% of whites don't even achieve, those days are over, we have to define our own American Dream by first progressing on an individual level as much as we can then redefining ourselves as a community, I think we we can find a way to link the most successful of us and continue to give back to those who try, while weeding out and seperating those who are a detriment to us and we find that Our American Dream is not so far out of reach, this may seem idealistic, but it is quite achievable within a generation or two.

The author pretty explicitly makes the argument that if you're a minority the odds are definitely against you. The other stuff about blacks not having the economic legacy that whites do seems to be pretty common sense, and is more subtext. However, none of this is relevant, imo, anyway.

What's relevant I think is how do we as a people, meaning humanity, move forward from here. Racism doesn't work economically, or at least it won't in the future. And while blacks are only 13% of the population, minorities as a whole are increasing in population and having way more babies than white folks are. If this trend continues then white folks will be outnumbered by people with darker skin than them. However, if the racist system that makes it more difficult for minorities to be educated, find adequate housing and healthcare, and have sustainable employment continues then the entire society is going to fall apart as racism will ensure that there will not be enough manpower in the workforce to maintain infrastructure, which will lead to a huge underclass population. What happens then? The same thing that has happened throughout history--revolution.

That shyt in red is what I always think of. You gotta throw a bone to those who are not as fortunate. If not, those masses are gonna get pissed off and revolt and rob those who DO have. That's what they racist and rich mufukkin cacs don't get.

Indeed. This is the real inequality, making us feeling we are not equal and we are just "one hit away." We have a long way to go, but no racist, c.oon, or KKK can condescend me into getting defensive. I'm in the front lines, so I don't really have the luxury of rhetoric.
