He's talking about when Robinhood and Co prevented people from buying. Like this:

Robinhood blocks new purchases of GameStop stock

If they tie one hand behind your back while the other person gets to use both you're going to lose in a fight

The same people on Reddit says Market Watch is owned by Citadel

Market watch is owned by citadel - they are hurt and need to sell options - this is FYI - when you buy options you give them more money to fight - : amcstock (reddit.com)

Citadel owns $96.4 millions worth of Market Watch... : amcstock (reddit.com)

which one is it

Like there's like zero information in that article

  • But why is it happening? One of the brokers at the heart of the conundrum, Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ:IBKR), brought their Chairman, Thomas Peterffy on to speak on CNBC to lay out the worries from a market structure perspective.
  • "If our customers are unable to pay for their losses, we have to put up our own money" said the chairman, noting that many in the marketplace were "concerned" about the "financial viability" of intermediaries and clearinghouses.
  • Interactive Brokers for its part issued a statement earlier today, and announced it has put AMC, Blackberry, Express Inc., and Koss Corp. options trading "into liquidation only due to extraordinary volatility in the markets."
  • "In addition, long stock positions will require 100% margin and short stock positions will require 300% margin until further notice. We do not believe this situation will subside until the exchanges and regulators halt or put certain symbols into liquidation only," Interactive Brokers said in the statement earlier.
like I SAID IF YOU USING MARGIN AND OPTIONS, that's what they stoppped

Yall repeating fud from citadel from market place lmao

So if you were using Margin you need 100 percent, so if I had 10 grand liquid and another ten grand burrowed total of 20k in stocks, I need to deposit 10k in the account before I could buy more or sell some shares to lower the margin maintenance

they did to people shorting the stock too but made it even harder they needed 300%

What number would you put on that settlement? 1k? 10k?

There was an article on yahoo about the 10 biggest squeezes or something like that. In around 4 of the cases when a stock was taking off the govt halted trading to give HF a chance to catch up and in one of those instances they took a runaway stock and gave shareholders $100 a share. I wouldn’t put any faith in the govt.

im sure they would let it go over $1k but the institutions will be constantly putting breaks on it and then the feds will probably step in before 10K
You think the Feds would step in BEFORE it hit 10k?

I just don't see how there could be any trust left in the free market if we had that kind of intervention screwing over the people.

Feels like we're fighting a battle we can't win if that's the case. I didn't know the game was so dirty.
