Yea, I know they have to buy the shares back, but what's stopping them from doing it sloooowwly, buy a little at a time. This way the stock never truly pays us little guys.

Cause it seems like it’s costing them so much money constantly to do it. That seem to be they goal to try and keep the stock in check and not explode by fukking with it, but they spending billions weekly on this process and can only go for so long.
At this point I think the one thing that's almost guaranteed is that the government is NOT going to work to save the hedge funds. They are the ones who caused all this with their reckless behavior. Government doesn't want this type of recklessness to continue so they will be happy to let them destroy themselves.
If the government was going to step in they would've done it a long time ago....this is a runaway train now.
That's not even to mention the illegal naked short selling they've been doing.....helping them?? Sheeit the government is probably building a criminal case against them as we speak.

it doesn't work that way, after getting margin called the price action will scare them into buying back as many shares as "cheaply" as possible. the first short-seller to cover their short position might be able to live another day.

The whole point of the short squeeze is that people hold so they can't "slowly" do anything. Once there is buying pressure from them on the stock and people hold then the price will go up and people keep holding until it keeps going up and keep holding and holding until it's the price you want. The reason they're in this mess is because they shorted so many shares and created naked shorts of so many shares they have a shyt ton they have to buy
