I know zombie flicks are cliche now a days and I'm not trying to reinvent the game by any means, but I think I'm sitting on a great story.

In a nutshell.. How Tarantino highlights the romance submersed in action in 'True Romance', I'm trying to do in a zombie outbreak. Have everything you look for in a zombie flick but the zombies take the passenger seat as the psychology of two "star-crossed lovers" drives the movie.

And of course, there'll be a big twist in the end..

But here is the cold open/intro to the movie, basically to just establish that there has been an outbreak.. I'm about 20 pages deep so far, but I'll keep the rest under wraps until later perhaps.

Let me know what yall think

i'm not gonna give away anything but i'll tell you this...

WWZ is told by a someone hired by the United Nations to collect the history of the Zombie Apocalypse. the dude who did the research did so by interviewing people all over the world and came back to the UN with his report. the UN chopped out a whole bunch of what he came back with because it had too much "human element".

they just wanted the numbers.

he took all of the stories that had been discarded by the UN and told the intimate stories of politicians, soldiers, pilots, spies and kids addicted to the internet before, during and after the Zombie Apocalypse.

it is brilliant.

after you read that, read "The Zombie Survival Guide".

 the one about the N. Koreans intrigued me the most. I'll start the Survival guide right after, downloaded both from a newsgroup

Dawn of the Dead; George A. Romero (1978 Original, and although I love all versions, I need to give special recommendation to the Extended Cut).

This movie has everything, and I mean fukking everything, that I could want in genre movie, hell any movie.

Powerful, smart, resourceful, black male lead (Non-c00n).
Social commentary
Gore
Zombies (Some hate the make up, but I find that it has a really campy appeal, and unlike in a lot of movies of today they actually look different from one another)
Tight script and dialogue. The best and most famous line : When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.
Appealing characters, flawed but relatable.

The ending is perfect...just a small flash of hope in a world gone mad.

One of my favorite films ever, Zombie or otherwise.

I watched the original Night Of Living Dead last night.

:obama: Romero for making a black man in '68, the savior while hell broke loose all around.

:salute: Ben for his heroics.

Although, just when you thought he was going to make it...shotgun blast right through the head. :noah::to:

I would agree if the Zombies didn't look so crappy, they all looked like blue smurfs.

The remake was better imo.

If the original Dawn had the zombies in Day of the dead then it would probably be higher up on my zombie film list....but shytty looking zombies in a film strictly about zombies is a no no

i love the remake, in fact, it's my second fav zombie movie

but it isn't fukking with dawn of the dead. only thing the remake has on the original is zombie fx/cgi. even the soundtrack is better on the original.
