Patrick Kane
Superstar
All three of these super producers started coming up in NYC around the same time (late 90's, early 00's) making classic records and being closely associated with some of the best underground and mainstream acts during this era (Mobb Deep (Prodigy), Jay-Z (& The Roc), Nas, Jadakiss, Dilated People, Ghostface, Jadakiss, and many other great artist. This was my "golden" era of hip hop, the time period of hip hop I grew up in and really experienced. Here are a few of my personal favorites from each of these three.
Prodigy completely blacks out on this. One of his finest moments on this classic beat laced by Alc.
Freeway was spitting like his life depended on it in What We Do. I don't think he's had a better song and I don't know if Just has a better track than this. Timeless.
Jay-Z, Scarface, Beanie Sigel and Kanye West on a track. Repeat that to yourself three times. This is what a summer hip hop track sounded like only 10 years ago.
By 2002, these dudes were just pumping out beats and creating so many classic records and as we all know, they continued this well into the 00's but each of their careers went down different paths, although they're all very successful musicians in their own way. In 2012, who is the best producer of the three? I think they all hit their peak at one point in the last 10 years but as great as they are, I also think they've had some lows. However, they're still putting out pretty decent work at this point in the career. Without basing it off who's the most successful or who's more popular (Kanye) but solely on their abilities of crafting together a song and the beats they're putting out today.
