Now we can debate what comes first (people not caring/major media outlets fishing for dollars), but the fact remains, vast majority of people just don't care about Africa. Add that to the fact that the Congo is vital for the world's economy and has basically been at war for decades with various factions backed by various foreign governments/multinationals, then you understand that the less the general public knows about it the better it is.

Taking out Gaddafi in Libya has led a domino effect of instability of the Sahel. This is what I meant that Libya being unstable is leading to Islamic jihadist groups getting more weapons, training, also bases to operate. As the fighting and instability in Libya gets worse jihadist groups will use the Sahel to destabilize African countries.

I'm not sure when but the decision to massively cut the foreign press budgets led to this as well. You used to see reporters actually abroad. Now if you're lucky they'll green screen it.
