Reynolds is the prototypical casual fan. He shuns trends, advanced statistics, and even common sense in order to beat the same drum that he was using back when such analysis was more difficult, if not impossible, to obtain.
He is the guy who would want to pinch hit with a certain player who had a decent batting average and had personal memories of doing well in clutch situations. He would ignore and/or reject the statistics that showed that hitter wasnt actually clutch, had never done well against that pitcher, and whose best years were far behind him.
He is the guy who would want to leave a starting pitcher in a game just because it felt right to him. The stats that showed the pitchers ERA, WHIP, BAA, etc all skyrocketed after 80 pitches? Of course, those would be ignored.
What makes it even worse is that he is also the same hindsight using moron who will criticize someone for making an unsuccessful move even if it was statistically the right move to make. Better yet, he'd criticize it even if it was the move he would made himself. The guy is a moron.
